What makes this album great in my mind is that it is so different from the vast majority of what is out there yet is still easy to listen to and enjoyable throughout. At first the song fragments seemed a little too random or unfinished but as a whole they make up a really powerful listening experience. Steven ellison blends electronic jazz and hip hop music together to make a sound that might alienate some but pique the interest of those keen on the texture of sounds as well as soundscapes. From the artwork to the concept to the execution flying lotus nails it on this album.
