Make sure your measurements are level with each other then drill holes into the marked spots install the wall anchors and screw in the brackets. Don t scrimp on length.

One rule of thumb is that they should sit 4 6 inches above the window frame. Sometimes it isn t possible or desirable to hang curtains all the way to the floor. When you hang the curtain rod high it will make the window appear taller. A rule of thumb from architectural digest is that curtains should be hung between 4 to 6 inches above the window frame so install your curtain rod accordingly.
