How to open matlab editor.
Salam i had this problem in 2014.
In first click on the little pointer in the upper right of the editor then click the little downward pointing triangle in a circle in the upper right of the window and select undoc then ctll n and enjoy.
There is a down arrow on the upper right hand corner and if one clicks dock all in editor all of the m files that are open will become one with the editor window with separate tabs for each m file.
Commands can be entered here and executed as a script.
To start the matlab stand alone editor double click an m file.
If you wish to view the contents of a file outside of matlab in versions later than r2007b please open the file in a generic text editor such as text edit vi emacs or notepad.
If file includes a partial path or no path edit will look for the file on the search path.
Matlab opens the file matlabroot toolbox matlab strfun num2str m if a file called num2str m exists in a folder that is above toolbox matlab strfun on the matlab path then matlab opens that file instead.
